Chinese Enterprises to Build a Plant in Hidalgo, Mexico

Report from the Financiers: the automobile assembly plant built in Sahagun, Hidalgo in Mexico by Chinese Giant Engine (Latin America) Company will be launched in January 2007. Investment of the first phase is 180m pesos with total investment of 500m pesos. It was estimated that the production capacity for the first year would be 2800 units, 15% of which would be exported. The site of this plant was originally a manufacturing plant for Dina truck. It was estimated that there would be 700 direct employments and over 3000 indirect employments available and another 500 direct employments and over 1000 indirect employments would be provided five years after launch. Elías Massri, President of Chinese Giant Engine (Latin America) Company, revealed that their company had planned to gradually adopt local parts in substitution or for production in the future production process to reduce the import.
