Amended Edition of Statistical System of Direct Overseas Investment

The MOFCOM and the National Bureau of Statistics jointly released a notice of the Statistical System of Direct Overseas Investment recently, which amended the 2004 edition of the Statistical System of Direct Overseas Investment by combining with the actual situation and features of Chinese direct overseas investment over the past two years. The newly amended System will take effect on Jan.1, 2007.
The amended System has added a quarterly report on the signing of agreements on overseas investment that covers the statistics and investigation of domestic enterprises signing overseas investment agreements, investment memos or intent letter of investment; added a form on the reinvestment by domestic investors via major tax heavens that aims at tracking the final destination of Chinese overseas investment; added a indicator of “undistributed profits” in owner’s equities in the basic information of overseas enterprises; and added a code of “private operation, private owner, private partnership” in the “registration category and code of enterprises and individuals”.
